When the gap is relatively large, around 15 mm, and cannot be closed even after adjusting the steel strap to its limit, it’s necessary to first determine the cause of the gap. If the gap is only between two wooden boards, and the boards themselves are not significantly deformed, it can usually be improved by loosening the steel strap, rearranging the boards, adjusting the barrel structure, and then evenly tightening the steel strap again.

If the gap originates from a single wooden board, such as one that has severely shrunk, twisted, or cracked, even readjusting the steel strap and reassembling will usually not close the gap. In this case, the dimensions of the board itself have changed significantly, preventing a proper seal.
