The Volcanic Series sauna accessories kit draws inspiration from volcanic stone, an essential element of the traditional Finnish sauna. Born from the earth’s wildest heat and pressure, volcanic rock undergoes a transformation as it cools, evolving from fiery energy into serene mountain forms. This natural process mirrors perfectly with the core philosophy of sauna—purification, renewal, and connection with nature.

Captivated by the rustic, weighty texture of volcanic rock and its inherent natural energy, we drew inspiration from intricately patterned cracks on its surface. Incorporating this into the visual image of the power and mystery of volcanoes, we designed the Volcanic Aluminum Sauna Accessories Kit.

During the design process, the Alphasauna team repeatedly researched the patterns of cracks in volcanic rock, striving to incorporate this impression of “natural power” into the sauna accessory set. The resulting Volcanic series sauna accessories kit features a deep matte black hue, adorned with large, relatively regular, three-dimensional cracks—evoking polygonal fissures bursting from the volcanic rock surface. Furthermore, we extended the raw, rugged natural texture of volcanic rock into the design while also taking tactile experience into consideration. This culminated in establishing a gently textured matte finish as the perfect embodiment of the volcanic pattern.

Ice and Stillness: The Design Philosophy of the Glacier Series

Amid Finland’s endless forests and countless lakes, the Finnish people have preserved an ancient sauna ritual for generations—plunging into icy lakes to cool the body after extreme heat permeates every inch of skin. It is this pure collision of heat and cold that inspired the birth of the Glacier Series sauna accessories kit.

We drew inspiration from the crystalline cracks that form on frozen lakes and combined them with the tranquil yet icy imagery of polar glaciers to craft the Glacier Series Sauna Accessories Kit.

Inheriting the Volcanic series, the Glacier series sauna accessories kit features an entirely black spray-painted surface. Its three-dimensional pattern appears as a dense and finely divided snowflake pattern, reminiscent of winter ice lakes beginning to thaw, with cracks spreading across the surface. The pattern is evenly distributed and interwoven. Furthermore, the texture of ice has been incorporated into the glacier texture‘s design, resulting in a smooth and refined feel.

It captures the moment a water droplet is about to slide down under the force of gravity, forming an irregular shape that is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom—an exclusive design you won’t find anywhere else. The full, rounded base not only ensures stability but also perfectly fits the palm’s curve, making it feel more secure and comfortable when held. The inward curves of the upper section break away from the stiffness of traditional straight-sided buckets while also avoiding the clumsiness of a round basin. The smooth curves create a dynamic aesthetic.

Both series of sauna sand timers are designed to hang, featuring a painted bamboo base, aluminum 15-minute scales, and heat-resistant glass. The matte black shell envelops the pure white sand, creating a striking visual contrast.

When the sand timer is inverted, the fine sand slowly flows. Its natural and graceful rhythm symbolizes the meditative moment of complete relaxation in the sauna, as well as the transformation of inner emotions—where fiery, volcanic thoughts gradually settle, through the cadence of falling sand, into the pure and tranquil stillness of a glacier.

The Sauna Spoon features a uniquely patterned aluminum head seamlessly integrated with a spray-painted bamboo handle. The all-black finish evokes the weighty texture of volcanic rock and the elegant grace of glaciers.
